Palmarosa oil comes from the Cymbopogon Martini plant. It belongs to the lemongrass family. Cymbopogon Martini grows wildly as herbaceous green grass with beautiful flowering tops. It is a native of India but now it is widely cultivated across the globe.
Palmarosa oil is an extraction from the dried harvest of the Cymbopogon Martini plant. Just before flowering, Cymbopogon is harvested. Then through steam distillation palmarosa oil is extracted. The steam distillate contains the palmarosa essential oil and distilled water. Now next step is solvent extraction. Through this, the secondary palmarosa oil is extracted.
